On February 18th 2016, the Kansas City Chapter of COMTO held it’s Annual Meeting/Networking Reception. The event was held at the Bruce Watkins Cultural Heritage Center in Kansas City, MO. The purpose of this event was to emphasize the importance of COMTO for people of color working in the transportation industry. Donnetta Cole (Vice-President of COMTO KC) gave an update on COMTO KC and the networking opportunities available for COMTO members.
A.J. Byrd (President of COMTO KC) delivered remarks on the benefits on COMTO membership as well as the history of the chapter.
Jameson Auten (Chief Transportation Officer for KCATA) delivered the RideKC regional strategy and discussed upcoming projects that KCATA will be embarking on in the near future.
Lester Woods, Jr. (External Civil Rights Director of MoDOT) gave the national update for COMTO and shared an insightful story on how COMTO had an impact on his career locally.
The annual meeting ended with the COMTO KC Scholarship Raffle. Below are the list of prizes and winners. The chapter was able to raise $ 534.00 towards the scholarship! Thank you to all the people and organizations who donated.
