On Tuesday, August 16th, members from the Kansas City Chapter of the Conference of Minority Officials (COMTO) supported Kansas City Area Transportation Authority’s (KCATA) Rosa Parks SPIRIT Awards celebrating individuals and organizations that, in the spirit of Civil Rights Leader Rosa Parks, are making a difference in metro Kansas City and in public transit. Sponsored by Lathop & Gage, among other organizations, the Rosa Parks SPIRIT Awards salutes individuals and organizations who make a positive difference in public transportation and in Kansas City.
Rosa Parks said “Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others.” KCATA honored four recipients:
Champion of Transit Award – Emanuel Cleaver, U.S. Representative
RideKC Award – Jermaine Reed, KCMO City Councilman, 3rd District
Community Partner Award – Tom Gerend, Executive Director, KC Streetcar Authority
Business Partner Award – Alphapointe, Reinhard Mabry, President
