COMTO KC Celebrates COMTO Week By Focusing on Children, Vendors, and Potential Members

COMTO Kansas City hosted its annual COMTO Week during the month of December for 2019. COMTO Week is an annual chapter-driven membership recruitment initiative where each chapter is charged to develop activities/events to promote membership, COMTO, and networking. COMTO KC planned 3 separate events during this time.

COMTO Annual KC Holiday Luncheon was a fun-filled yet informative experience. We partnered with Buca di Beppo to host and supply our luncheon. Their staff was great to work with and the food was great. COMTO members were able to network with City staff, Transit staff, Airport staff, contractors, vendors, and others. We discussed the upcoming calendar for national and local COMTO events, upcoming elections, membership benefits, and the COMTO National Small Business Directory.

COMTO collaborated with the Kansas City Area Transit Authority to create their first annual Vendor Holiday Reception. COMTO members worked with KCATA to plan, execute, and decorate this event. The goal of this event was to make vendors aware of the procurement opportunities that KCATA has available, help them enjoy a good meal, and network with KCATA staff. The goal of this event was to show vendors in the Kansas City metro area that KCATA is open for business and wants to work with HUBs.

COMTO KC also adopted the whole 4th grade of Dobbs Elementary. We were able to provide coats, school supplies, and gifts to over 75 students. COMTO members and friends heeded the call to provide proper winter coats for many children who were without, school supplies to help the teachers spend less of their own money, and gifts to help their celebrate the Christmas season. We are actually still accepting donations towards this initiative and plan on making another drop-off in the near future.
